On Thursday, the Bartlesville Public Schools Foundation (BPSF) hosted an author and illustrator meet and greet for its book, Goodnight Bartlesville. BPSF invited the Bartlesville community, particularly elementary students and their families, to the Price Tower to meet the author and illustrators of Goodnight Bartlesville, visit about the process of publishing a book, and view the original artwork from the book.
The event was free to the public, courtesy of a grant from the Bartlesville Community Foundation. BPSF provided snacks and opportunities for guests to have their books autographed by the illustrators and author during the two hour come-and-go event.
Throughout the evening, there was a steady flow of guests through the Price Tower Gallery, visiting with the illustrators as well as viewing the art displayed for the Youth Art Show, which conveniently coincided with the timing of the Meet and Greet. BPSF received substantial positive feedback during the event and in the days following – from parents, students, the artists, and other community members.
BPSF has sold approximately 1700 copies of the book to date. The book project, sponsored by the Truity Education Foundation, serves as an opportunity to instill community pride in some of our youngest readers, promote the love of reading and art appreciation, and as a fundraiser for BPSF, providing support for its programs.
