BPS Foundation Celebrates Give Like Dolly Day on September 25

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Bartlesville Public Schools Foundation (BPSF) will join communities across the country on September 25 for the first Give Like Dolly Day, a new annual tradition established by The Dollywood Foundation to honor Dolly Parton’s legacy of giving back to children and inspiring a love of reading.

BPSF has served as the local partner for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Washington County since October 2022. Since then, more than 60,600 books have been mailed directly to the homes of local children, and the program now serves approximately 58% of Washington County children under age five.

Through the Imagination Library, eligible children can receive a free, age-appropriate book in the mail each month from birth until their fifth birthday. Families pay nothing to participate.

While support from The Dollywood Foundation and the Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness (OPSR), the state managing partner for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, helps significantly reduce the local cost of the program, BPSF is responsible for raising funds locally to support it. For the 2026–27 school year, BPSF projects approximately $25,000 in local program costs.

“Give Like Dolly Day is an opportunity to celebrate what our community has already made possible while also helping us continue this program for local families,” said Rachel Miller, BPSF Executive Director. “More than 60,600 books have made their way into Washington County homes since 2022. Every one of those books represents an opportunity for a child and family to read, learn and build memories together.”

Community members can celebrate Give Like Dolly Day by making a gift to support the Imagination Library, sharing information about the program, or encouraging eligible families to enroll.
