BHS Art Teacher Recognized for Kindness in the Classroom

Bartlesville High School art teacher Erinn Rakes has been named the September recipient of the Bartlesville Public Schools Foundation’s Kindness in the Classroom award for the 2026–27 school year.

Rakes was nominated by a colleague for her dedication to creating a welcoming and supportive environment where students feel accepted, encouraged, and valued. Her impact extends beyond art instruction as she helps students build confidence, discover their talents, and develop a sense of belonging.

In her nomination, a colleague shared how Rakes provides students with a place of warmth and security, particularly those who struggle with peer acceptance. Through her gentle encouragement, students are finding not only their artistic abilities but also their voices.

Through the generous sponsorship of The Musselman Abstract Company, Rakes received a $200 classroom grant to benefit her students.

The Kindness in the Classroom program recognizes Bartlesville Public Schools educators who demonstrate exceptional kindness, compassion, and connection with their students and school communities.
